ELA: Jasmine, tell us about what your leaders did that you specifically appreciate.

Jasmine: Our ERG leaders are dynamic contributors, collaborators, and action drivers! Because of them, we have increased our employee engagement, including by acquiring over 500 new ERG members across our groups since August 2023.

ELA: What impact did your leaders have on you with this specific action?

Jasmine: Our ERG chairs have increased employee engagement. The impact of such efforts have led to increased employee retention, and with some (now former employees) noting that they stayed with the organization longer due to the engagement and participation of the ERGs.

ELA: Why was this action unique or especially challenging to accomplish?

Jasmine: Being a chairperson of an ERG is no small feat, let alone for an organization our size (we are the second largest higher ed institution int he nation!). Our 6,000 employees get to find community and a work home here, and our ERG chairs are uniquely positioned to support this aim. Their contributions range from coordinating professional development workshops, wellbeing exercises, networking events, and engagements spotlighting their unique needs.
